To mark the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series BC Place Stadium has lit up with a colorful display of flags from the competing countries—and it looks awesome.

The popular sporting event kicks off in Vancouver this Saturday, March 7, at BC Place promising two days of back-to-back action-packed games.

If you’re unsure of what the game is, here’s a little explainer from Rugby Canada: “Sevens Rugby is a variant of rugby union featuring just seven players a-side, playing on a full-size field by much of the same rules as the original 15-player game. While a regular rugby union match lasts at least 80 minutes, a sevens match consists of two halves of seven minutes with a one-minute half-time break.” Find out more about the rules HERE.

Vancouver is the only Canadian host city on the 10-stop world tour. There are 15 ‘core’ teams who participate at each round of the Series. The 2020 teams include Argentina, Australia, Canada, England, Fiji, France, Ireland, Spain, Kenya, New Zealand, Samoa, Scotland, South Africa, USA, and Wales.

The Vancouver event is known to draw huge crowds and has attracted hundreds of thousands of spectators over the years.

Last year, Rugby Canada announced a new four-year hosting deal with World Rugby that will see the popular HSBC Canada Sevens tournament continue to 2023.

BC Place is known for its eye-catching light displays and is illuminated from 6 a.m. to sunrise, and from sunset to 11 p.m. most nights. On event nights, the roof and Northern Lights Display are lit until the conclusion of the event.

The flag display looks pretty cool, and many Vancouverites have been sharing photos on social media. Take a look:
