Movie theatres in B.C. will soon be allowed to welcome patrons back.

bThe nation's two biggest movie theatre chains are preparing to reopen their doors in B.C. as the province's restart plan continues forward.

Cineplex and Landmark Cinemas have both announced plans to reopen Tuesday, June 15. That's the start of step 2 of B.C.'s "restart" plan; theatres will be allowed to reopen with limited capacity. Audiences will be limited to 50 people.

Cineplex is planning to reopen all its theatres including five in Vancouver; they have 24 across B.C. Landmark is reopening all but two of its theatres in B.C. (West Kelowna will remain closed and Port Alberni will reopen later this month). They don't have any cinemas in the City of Vancouver, but have locations in New Westminster and Surrey.

"We recognize the new appreciation our guests have for the theatrical experience and we can’t wait to welcome them back to our theatres, as nothing compares to the big screen and big sound that we’ve been missing for so long,” says Cineplex's Sarah Van Lange in a press release. “We continue to prioritize health & safety measures to ensure that our theatres are a safe, relaxing, and inviting space for movie-lovers to escape with family and friends.”

Cineplex theatres will be showing films like The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, Cruella and Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway. Landmark will be playing much of the same.

Landmark is selling tickets already for next week. Tickets for Cineplex theatres in B.C. are not yet available at the time of publishing.
