The first week back in the classroom for Surrey high school students saw the novel coronavirus rear its ugly head.
Someone with COVID-19 at Johnston Heights Secondary School led the school district to notify parents/guardians of a “low risk” instance of exposure.
A letter was sent out “to provide notification that an individual who is a confirmed COVID-19 case attended Johnston Heights Secondary School from Sept. 8 to 11.”
Though the person who attended the facility at 15350 99 Ave. is confirmed to have the disease, they did not have contact with any students, the letter states.
Deputy superintendent of Surrey Schools, Jordan Tinney, lauded the district's “strong health protocols in place” which he said, “keep any exposure limited.”
