Let it snow: Vancouver forecast calls for up to 2 cm of snow over higher terrain

And that means lots of snow in the mountains.

The Metro Vancouver weather forecast is calling for a chance of snow over higher terrain tonight.

While most of the city will see periods of rain, the forecast calls for snow over higher terrain, with up to 2 cm possible.

An additional 2 cm of snowfall is possible at higher elevations Wednesday morning, while places at lower elevations will see periods of rain ending in the afternoon with a 40 per cent chance of showers later on.

Thursday is expected to see a brief respite from the rain, but the wet weather is expected to return Friday night and continue through the weekend.

Scores of Metro Vancouverites mock first 'snow day' of 2021 while others share wintry snaps

While the forecast called for snowfall across Metro Vancouver on Sunday, not every part of the region saw much of the white stuff.

In fact, most residents of the City of Vancouver didn't see any snow, or if they did, it was only a few flakes falling and then not sticking on the ground. Likewise, some areas of Metro Vancouver only saw a light dusting but not much of an accumulation.

For these folks, the buildup to the 2021 "snowmaggedon" was decidedly laughable, and they took to Twitter to share their perception of the first "snow day" of the new year.

That being said, other locals shared numerous pictures of the snowfall at higher elevations--albeit very humble amounts of the white stuff.
