Fleurs de Villes will be back this June bringing flowers and art to the city's core.
The free petal-based event will bring out the city's top florists to show off their floral talents with more than 50 displays along Robson Street and at the Vancouver Art Gallery. Displays will include mannequins dressed in hundreds of blooms, photo booths that have been flower bombed and cars covered in colourful plant life.
"The one-of-a-kind show will be freely open to the public, and visitors will be able to safely walk the self-guided exhibit while adhering to social distancing guidelines," state organizers in a press release.
This display is dubbed Fleur de Villes ROSÉ; the Vancouver-based organization behind it (also called Fleur de Villes) creates similar events around the world. ROSÉ first appeared in Miami in March and will tour cities in North America, the UK, South Africa and Australia until 2022. A portion of proceeds from things like on-site flower sales at the Vancouver event will go to breast cancer research.
"We are delighted to open our beautiful floral trails in Canada this year in our own backyard of Vancouver. With such enthusiasm from so many community partners, this is an important event helping to draw people together to support local businesses, florists and breast cancer research,” says co-founder Karen Marshall in a press release.
They were behind a Christmastime event in the same area.
The trail will send people in a loop, starting and ending at the Vancouver Art Gallery; those following the map will be led to the waterfront and back up. The gallery's 1931 Gallery Bistro will have an associated menu.
The pop-up art will only be around for just over a week, from June 11 to 20.
