The Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) authority is warning the public of the potential for COVID-19 exposure at a Yaletown mixed martial arts gym.
Lions Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), located at 1256 Granville St., is one of 12 current exposure warnings listed on VCH's website – meaning someone or persons with the virus were at the club during operating hours from Aug. 18 to Aug. 28.
“The possible exposures listed on the site are believed to be low risk, but we’re asking anyone who was at Lions MMA during operating hours on those days to self-monitor themselves for symptoms," VCH said in a statement.
As of current, the facility will remain closed until Sept. 8.
“Due to a recent drastic increase in Vancouver COVID numbers and some possible contacts at the gym, we have made the difficult decision to close the gym starting Saturday through to next Tuesday, following the long weekend,” an academy spokesperson posted to social media.
“This is not a decision we come to easily but it is one that we stand behind with confidence. No one is forcing us to close, this is a decision that we are making as a team in light of the increases and the additional safety measures we want to put in place at the gym."
