An employee at The Teahouse in Stanley Park says he has tested positive for COVID-19.
On its answering machine, the restaurant states: "Here at the Teahouse, we take the health and safety of our customers very seriously, and at this point have decided to temporarily close our doors for a deep cleaning of our premises."
The Teahouse adds that it will reopen in the near future, but does not provide an explanation as to why it has closed doors.
In a phone call, a staff member who wants to remain anonymous and works at the front of the house in The Teahouse tells Vancouver Is Awesome that he has tested positive for the novel coronavirus. He adds that three other employees have also tested positive for the virus.
Matt Kieltyka, Acting Communications Leader for Vancouver Coastal Health, tells V.I.A. that the health authority cannot comment on why the restaurant closed its doors.
