An employee at one of Vancouver's most well-known taco spots has tested positive for COVID-19, and in response the restaurant has voluntarily shut the location down.
Tacofino announced Tuesday that a worker from their Gastown location has a confirmed COVID diagnosis, and says the employee is "recovering well and [is] self-isolating at home."
The test-positive, however, has not led to a COVID public exposure warning from the health authority, but the restaurant has closed its doors as an extra precaution.
"While Vancouver Coastal Health hasn’t deemed there to be any risk to the public and has not required us to close, our employees and community are our biggest asset and their comfort and safety is our top priority," explains Tacofino.
The restaurant will remain closed until Tacofino Gastown is "ready to re-open safely after a deep sanitation of the property."⠀

"Please be assured that we went to great lengths to create a comprehensive safety plan to ensure a safe space for our employees and guests. We remain committed to going above and beyond recommended guidelines as things continue to evolve," continues the restaurant, thanking customers for their ongoing support.
Tacofino operates additional locations in East Vancouver, Yaletown, Mount Pleasant, downtown, and Kitsilano, as well as multiple food trucks.
