Vancouver’s Waterfront Station has been temporarily closed due to a police incident.

Vancouver’s Waterfront Station was temporarily closed after a suspicious package was found on a SkyTrain car Saturday afternoon, say Metro Vancouver Transit Police.

TransLink tweeted that the Waterfront Station had been closed just before 5 p.m. on Saturday "due to a police incident."

Metro Vancouver Transit Police Sgt. Clint Hampton confirmed with Vancouver Is Awesome that a suspicious package was found, but it had now been determined that it was not a threat to the public.

"A suspicious package was located, however, with the assistance of the VPD emergency response team, it has been determined that the package is not threat," he said in an email.

"Regular service will be resuming."

TransLink alerted commuters that the Canada Line SkyTrain service had been disrupted due to the incident around 5.30pm. SeaBus service was also suspended at the Waterfront Station and Lonsdale Quay due to the incident. In a release TransLink said shuttle trains were running between Olympic and VCC stations to help deal with the shutdown.

TransLink confirmed with commuters around 7 p.m. on Twitter that the incident had been resolved and normal service was resuming.
