Talk about a bird party!
Dozens of Great blue herons (known as a heronry) can be seen along South Fraser Perimeter Road, near the Tsawwassen ferry terminal.
Turns out this is a normal occurrence for these feathered friends, as heron colonies become quite active this time of year.
Despite their large gatherings, this particular subspecies is classified as at-risk in B.C.
According to the Stanley Park Ecology Society, Pacific great blue herons do not migrate and often have difficulty finding undisturbed habitat and nesting sites.
While the overall population has declined across the province, this local colony seems to be doing just fine.
