After weeks of clear, blue skies and stable weather, a summer storm has arrived.
It won't last too long but tonight, Monday July 24, it may bring thunderstorms to Metro Vancouver. Weatherhood, Metro Vancouver’s only hyper-local weather network, has a chance of thunderstorms at around midnight in forecasts across the City of Vancouver, from Langara to Stanley Park.
While the likelihood of thunder and lightning is uncertain, what is certain is that the city will see showers through the night.
Areas on the western and eastern parts of the city look to get slightly less rain, while the middle neighbourhoods show slightly more.
Environment Canada's forecast for the overall Metro Vancouver region also shows a "risk of thunderstorms" starting at 9 p.m. and lasting for a couple of hours, with up to 10 mm of precipitation falling.
Beyond Monday night, forecasts for Vancouver from Weatherhood and the entire Metro region from Environment Canada show showers on Tuesday during the day, with things clearing somewhat Tuesday night. Wednesday, July 26, will have a mix of sun and cloud along with a 30 per cent chance of showers.
