Metro Vancouver Easter egg hunters will likely enjoy above-average temperatures and sunshine over the long weekend.
Following a span of primarily dismal days with average daytime highs, the Metro Vancouver weather forecast includes a shift to warmer temperatures at the end of the week.
But locals shouldn't break out their shades and suntan lotion yet.
V.I.A.'s Trout Lake Weatherhood station in East Vancouver shows a modest chance of showers on Monday and Tuesday, with highs of 11 C and 10 C and lows of 6 C and 5 C, respectively. (See slide two.)
Environment Canada meteorologist Armel Castellan says a "pretty active" spring weather pattern with a "convective element" could also bring heavy rain and the risk of thunderstorms.
Starting Wednesday, periods of rain are expected to bring significant moisture to the region, although they won't meet the rainfall warning criteria.

The wet weather should continue through Thursday and begin to ease Friday. However, Friday may still be a bit cloudy.
"Freezing levels may climb to 3,000 metres and temperatures will be a few degrees above normal, which is 12 C," Castellan told V.I.A.
Saturday's forecast includes clear skies, sunshine, and daytime highs several degrees above the seasonal average, with the overnight low expected to dip close to seasonal (4 C).
Sunday could see temperatures climb into the late teens, with some areas of the Lower Mainland reaching a high of 17 C.
The sunshine might carry through Monday and Tuesday but a cooler, wetter pattern is expected to emerge by mid-next week.
Castellan said that the next stretch of showers doesn't look "extremely wet" or have "tons of precipitation"
