Prepare to dress warm if you're heading out in the evening this week.
Colder temperatures are expected on a couple of nights this week and it's thanks to nice weather also in the forecast, according to Environment Canada meteorologist Dave Wray.
"We've got a good two or three days of quite nice weather," he says. "And overnight lows will dip down to -2 C or -3 C."
The weather Sunday afternoon, Mar. 3, and overnight will be damp in the city, with a chance of wet snow at higher elevations, but that won't last too long, Wray explains.
By Monday morning, the sunshine should be fighting its way through, bringing highs of around 7 C and clear skies.
However, because of the sunny skies Monday and Tuesday, it'll get quite cool at night. Normally this time of year sees Vancouver tucked under a blanket of clouds which helps the city retain heat. This week that won't be around, and Vancouver will cool to sub-zero temperatures.
If Vancouver didn't get cloudy at this time of year, -3 C would actually be closer to normal for an overnight low.
"It's just colder conditions than normal," Wray explains, noting the cool down this week isn't connected to any Arctic air or northern storms.
Vancouver will get covered in clouds again later this week around Wednesday or Thursday, he adds. As the cloud should roll in during the day, when temperatures are predicted to be well above 0 C, there's no expectation of snow later this week.
