As rain pours over the Metro Vancouver region, coincidentally also marking the conclusion of summer's sunshine and the start of cool, wet fall weather on none other than the fall equinox, some Vancouver neighbourhoods may feel wetter than others.
Meteorological fall kicked off on Sept. 1 but the fall equinox took place on Friday, Sept. 22. Evidently the autumn season is off to a rainy start -- a trend that will continue according to the long-term fall forecast which also includes above-average temperatures that may be tied to El Niño.
Over the weekend and stretching into next week, however, Vancouverites can expect days of heavy rain.
A daily ranking by Weatherhood shows the top five hottest, coldest, wettest, and windiest neighbourhoods across Vancouver. Here are the top five wettest areas around the city on Saturday (Sept. 23) according to the ranking.
As of 2 p.m., Hastings Sunrise has the most amount of precipitation, amounting 2.2. mm of rainfall.
The remainder of the list -- South Vancouver, Strathcona, Jericho, and Kitsilano -- are all tied at 1.8 mm of rain.
The downpour isn't expected to lessen any time soon. Locals should prepare for a steady 99 per cent chance of rainfall through Wednesday (Sept. 27), with precipitation minimizing starting Thursday.
