The Weatherhood weather forecast for Vancouver is calling for the rainstorm to dry up by Friday (Oct. 20), only to see rain return next week.

Despite Vancouver not receiving a rain alert like the rest of the region, heavy rain showered the city starting Tuesday (Oct. 17) evening.

Environment Canada meteorologist Alyssa Charbonneau told V.I.A. in a previous interview that Vancouver is on the southern edge of the stormy frontal band, which is expected to move on partway through Wednesday.

However, that doesn't mean that the local downpour will dry up just yet.

According to V.I.A.'s hyper-local weather network Weatherhood, Wednesday will be the wettest day over the next week, with a 99 per cent chance of rain, and Friday will be the driest with only a 19 per cent chance of rain.

While the wet weather is expected to ease up over the weekend, Weatherhood calls for more showers to come next week, as well as a chance of thunderstorms. On Tuesday, the city is forecast to see a 90 per cent chance of rain.

As of just after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Weatherhood ranked the Hastings Sunrise neighbourhood as the wettest area in the city, according to a daily ranking of the hottest, coldest, wettest, and windiest parts of town.

The Hastings Sunrise area topped the chart with 3.5 mm of precipitation. The rest of the list, including South Vancouver, Mount Pleasant, Kerrisdale, and Langara, listed in that same order, tied with each another with 3.4 mm of rainfall.
