The Metro Vancouver weather forecast includes colder temperatures on Friday, November 22, 2024, with winds that will continue into the weekend.

Metro Vancouverites may have to endure several wet days before the sun starts to shine again in the region.

Environment Canada Meteorologist Derek Lee told V.I.A. that Friday, Nov. 22's storm offshore is mainly impacting Vancouver Island, although Lower Mainland residents could see winds gusting up to 70 km/h.

"Rainfall amounts are negligible, with amounts of 2 to 5 mm, we could even call them showers," he commented.

Friday's windy, modestly wet conditions should persist into Saturday, with winds gusting up to 70 km/h and up to 5 mm of precipitation possible.

"Wind-prone places may be more susceptible to power outages," he noted. "But this storm looks less powerful than the one on Tuesday."

Locals have a minimal risk for power outages but it could be possible if trees are susceptible following the previous storm.

The bomb cyclone left thousands of BC Hydro customers without power, with multiple outages lasting through Tuesday night and into Wednesday.

Another 2 to 5 mm of rain is expected to fall on Saturday, and 30 km/h winds gusting to 60 are possible.

"If you're closer to the North Shore you may see higher rainfall amounts," he added. "It is going to be a pretty typical West Coast weekend. Wet with rain or showers that taper off by Tuesday."

Metro Vancouver weather forecast includes colder temperatures next week

Temperatures will start to drop heading into next week, with daytime highs of 6 C or 7 C and lows falling just above freezing.

Starting mid-next week, a ridge of high pressure from the north should bring a mix of sun and cloud with cooler, drier air. However, this won't be a blast of Arctic air and locals shouldn't brace for subzero conditions, Lee explained.

The signal for the end of next week isn't entirely clear but locals may the rain return. Since forecast confidence is low, Lee said people should check the forecast later next week to stay updated with current information.

"It's a coin toss right now for dry or wet conditions."
