Vancouver weather: Thunderstorm warning and showers continue

Stormy weather continues following a powerful windstorm.

Following powerful overnight winds, a thunderstorm warning is in the Vancouver weather forecast for Sunday, Aug. 18. 

While the winds died down early Sunday, a risk of thunderstorms is expected to persist through the day. V.I.A.'s Downtown Centre Weatherhood station shows a high of 21 C with a low of 7 C and up to 15 mm of rain (see slide two). Thousands of Lower Mainland residents lost power due to the windstorm.

Monday's forecast includes mostly dry but cloudy conditions with a high of 21 C and a low of 16 C. 

sturgeon supermoon will rise over the Lower Mainland on Monday, appearing bigger and brighter than most full moons. August's full moon is also considered a "seasonal" blue moon, different from the monthly ones. 

Vancouver weather forecast

The seven-day forecast includes a mix of dry and showery days. Tuesday's forecast includes a 27 per cent chance of showers with a high of 19 C and a low of 16 C.

Wednesday is expected to be wet, with up to 16 mm of precipitation, a high of 18 C, and a low of 15. 

The sun is expected to shine after the midweek mark, with Thursday and Friday's forecasts showing mainly dry conditions with daytime highs around 21 C. 

Heading into the weekend, Saturday's forecast includes the possibility of showers.
