Hold on to your hats and umbrellas.

The Metro Vancouver weather forecast includes a mix of stormy conditions, including powerful winds and periods of rain, heading into the weekend.

Environment Canada issued a wind warning for the region on Friday, Nov. 10, warning of strong, 70 km/h winds gusting as high as 90 km/h.

The winds are expected to increase as a powerful Pacific frontal system makes its way across the B.C. south coast during the day and into the night on Friday. The Strait of Georgia is expected to see the strongest winds, according to the regional weather alert.

The high winds may cause damage and toss loose objects, resulting in injuries. They may also cause power outages and fallen tree branches.

The potent winds are expected to ease by Saturday morning, shifting to "moderate" levels in the wake of the front.

Metro Vancouver weather forecast includes a stretch of rain

The powerful winds are part of one of several storms slated to roll in off the Pacific this week, Environment Canada Meteorologist Alyssa Charbeannau told V.I.A. in a previous interview.

Rain will also accompany the tempestuous weather over the coming days and rainfall warnings are possible.

Friday's forecast includes modest rainfall amounts in downtown Vancouver, while more significant amounts are expected during the rest of the weekend.

As much as 40 mm of precipitation is expected to fall on Saturday, according to V.I.A.'s Vancouver Downtown Centre Weatherhood station

Daily highs of 8 C to 10 C are expected over the next few days, with overnight lows dipping down between 5 C and 8 C. Temperatures are expected to drop significantly by Tuesday, however, with the overnight low falling to a chilly 2 C.
