Mark Nielsen

Mark Nielsen has been a reporter at the Prince George Citizen since November 2002. He began as the city hall reporter and now covers police and court.
Mark holds a bachelors degree in political science from the University of British Columbia. He grew up in the Lower Mainland but has lived in the Central Interior since 1994 and has worked at newspapers in Burns Lake, Vanderhoof and Dawson Creek prior to coming to Prince George.
He's been an avid hiker and, in 2018, was a finalist for a B.C. Community Newspapers Association Ma Murray award in the outdoor recreation writing category for a story on a week-long backpacking trip in Mount Edziza Provincial Park with the Caledonia Ramblers.
