These lovely knitted mittens shown above match the ones that'll be worn by all 12,000 of the folks who will be taking the Olympic torch across Canada, through more than 1,000 communities, starting in about one month's time. They can also be worn by YOU... for only $10! I've personally been grabbing Quatchi merchandise and must say that this costs about half as much as my beautiful and cute coffee mug did, and that is an insane deal.
Not only are they cheap and simple (I predict that in 2023 they will be looked back upon as fondly as we look on the Expo 86 ringer tee today), but the net proceeds from every pair sold will "complete the funding of the five-year Own the Podium 2010 initiative, which provides Canadian athletes with top equipment and training for the 2010 Games. Any additional funds raised through the Red Mittens campaign will support a variety of athlete- and sport-based initiatives".
