PRINCE CHARLES AT THE OLYMPIC VILLAGE
I headed down to the Olympic Village yesterday morning on a whim, not knowing exactly when Prince Charles was supposed to arrive but knowing from looking at his schedule that it would be “late morning”. Unfortunately I had a thing to go to at 11 so I missed Chuck by a mere half an hour or so, but here’s a brief examination of a couple of things I saw…
I got there pretty early, before security even arrived. Here’s a photo of the security team being briefed on the area. They had those awesome Clint Eastwood in “In The Line Of Fire” headsets and that’s how I knew who they were. The long coats and hairstyles helped too. But why don’t they wear running shoes? I’ve always wondered that.

You can tell the press by their long lenses, branded microphones, media passes and by the logos on their umbrellas.

That’s all I got. Did anybody attend and take photos of the Prince himself? Please send them to me (contact@vancouverisawesome.com) so I can post em!

My boss was there talking about CBA and the CORE training program we administered to help DTES residents get jobs and training. Two of the program participants got to meet the Prince.
They had no cameras inside, not even an official photographer at least taking pictures of my boss or the trainees. A bit unfortunant, the Premier, the Mayor and other big wigs were there too.
Sorry that’s all I got for an inside scoop.
