SCENE AND HEARD showcases the independent music scene here in
Vancouver.

We interview some of our favourite local artists, post weekly guest playlists comprised of Vancouver artists and ‘Last Week in
Music’ highlights some of the concerts happening around the city…

This week in music was HUGE…the finale of the Peak Performance Project and announcement of Kyprios as the winner! Of course we already posted those photos, so you can go check them out HERE.
The other shows I attended this week was a welcome change of pace: acoustic guitar at Cafe Deux Soleils and Waves coffee shop. Thursday I ran from Rain City Chronicles in time to catch the 2nd set by Steph Macpherson at Cafe Deux Soleils. Unfortunately I missed the wonderful Katie Schaan, but luckily she was performing on stage with Steph (as well as Matt Kelly from Treelines). After Steph Jess Hill played her second set to a hushed crowd that responded to her call and answer songs.
Saturday night I passed on Diamond Rings to enjoy a show at Waves by the talented Zachary Lucky, Andy Shauf and Jordan Klassen. They each played wonderful sets in the cozy coffee shop. Check out the photos below and see what is coming up this week!

THIS WEEK IN MUSIC: starts TONIGHT at the Biltmore with local songstress Nat Jay opening up for Jay Brannan. Thursday is Maurice’s EP Launch party at the Railway (with Treelines, Will Currie and the Country French, and City Sirens). Friday sees Jason Collett in town at the Biltmore, as well as Adaline and DJ Revise launching their album with a special night at the Rio. Henry and the Nightcrawlers are also having their CD Release this Saturday at the Billy Bishop Legion Hall (with performances by Zach Gray and David Vertesi!)
