Every day we share a single photo from our Flickr Pool shot by one of our faithful and talented readers (that’s you!)

An amazing contribution from Doug Williams to the Flickr Pool yesterday, one that I just could not pass up the chance to share with you all. Turns out that Doug took this photograph from the Second Narrows Bridge in 1983 - but it has such a timeless quality to it. Formally, I find the way that the light sculpts the column-shapes of both the grain elevators and rail cars to be nothing short of fantastic. Such a simple composition of strong lines and repeated shapes. When I first saw it I was reminded of Paul Strand and his 1915 photograph Wall Street.

Often times we look at older photographs to observe how things have changed - other times an image can reveal that some things just stay the same. Here is grain elevator and tracks, 1983. Vancouver BC.
