This Saturday (January 21st) at Club PuSh, is an all-music night featuring Bend Sinister, Pleasure Cruise, and Nicholas Krgovich. We asked the fine folks of Bend Sinister to answer a few questions for us, and this is what they had to say...

How long have you been playing together?

Dan started the band just after high school, but it took its current shape in 2008 when the band released the album "Stories of Brothers, Tales of Lovers" and Joseph (guitar) and Dana (drums) joined the band. Matt on bass is the newest member and has been in the band just over a year

Are any of you Vancouver natives?

Joseph was born and raised in West Vancouver, Dana in Nanaimo, Dan in Kelowna and Matt is a prarie boy.

What is your favourite “hidden gem” in Vancouver?

Dan - Lately its AU PETIT CAFE on Main and 32nd. Best Vietnamese sub in town and for only $3.99

Joseph - The patio at the Vancouver Art Gallery

Matt - Lighthouse park, best outta town in town getaway

Dana - The Sunday Pigeon Park flea market

Are there any other shows that make you excited in the PuSh Festival?

Seeing ESL at the Opening Gala at the Waldorf! They're a great band.

You have an amazing collection of music videos.  Do you all collaborate on the concepts?  Do you have some main collaborators outside of the band that you work with to make them happen?

It seems they just sorta materialize at the time. We always collaborate with local directors/producers for them, and then they shoot over suggestions and treatments for video concepts. Dan did a bunch of video collage videos for the STORIES album but often its best to leave the videos to those who know best.

What is the craziest gig you’ve ever played?

We did a NDP convention last year, and we got a bit worried when 80% of the audience was over 60 and sitting at tables around the stage. I told them that we were gonna be really loud and high energy but they still wanted to book us for the gig. We just gave it everything, but at least once a song somebody came up and asked us to turn it down or play some covers or jazz songs. It was amusing. Oh wait, Dana says our craziest gig was playing a private party in 2010 for THEM CROOKED VULTURES, we met JP Jones from Led Zepplin and Dave Grohl and Josh Holmes and they were all sitting eating dinner and watching our whole set.

In a battle, who would win – 3 unicorns and one honey badger vs 18 armadillos and a sabre tooth tiger?

Well if you've ever seen the honey badger in action you'd know that it is the most fierce animal around.. nothing can stop it.
