Volume 82: Railtown Cafe grand opening in East Vancouver on August 8, 2012. More photos available on Flickr.
Railtown is now graced with a new local eatery to serve all the offices and worker bees in the developing industrial area.
The joint was soon packed mostly with owl workers across the street from the HootSuite offices (including my sister from another mister, Sandra Chung, above).
We sampled their pretty tasty sandwiches. My pick was the chicken club with some deliciously crispy "72-hour bacon" on focaccia. Another standout was the salmon sandwich with pesto on olive bread. The reuben with braised beef brisket on rye was a comforting bite.
We marvelled at the sweet smelling meats and breads carefully prepared. There were also some delicious baked goods: cookies and cinnamon buns (my favourite). (Also: Some fresh looking salads.)
Everything should be good and sitting pretty at the new Eastside eatery. I find the joint like a more elaborate, ambitious version of Meat & Bread for the Railtown crowd.
