sceneandheard SCENE AND HEARD showcases the independent music scene here in Vancouver. We post weekly guest playlists comprised of Vancouver artists and ‘Last Week in Music’ highlights some of the best concerts happening around the city…

So I might have been sick and missed the only show I had on the docket for this week, BUT I did get to go to Dîner en Blanc/took some shots and there were some pretty great jazz musicians from France jamming in the media area (I had to run before their set) called Les Noces Gitanes. So, I’m lacking with the photos this week, but consider it my Labour Day vacation because it seems like every other band took it off too! However…

THIS WEEK IN MUSIC: is quiet exciting! I’m hoping to catch the Devin Townsend Project at the Commodore on Wednesday… Not my usual coverage, but Devin and his band are really talented, and if you saw the Polaris Salon last year with Lisa Christiansen, you know he’s a cool guy too. Friday is the Good For Grapes, The Oh Wells, Badgerchild show at the Media Club, and be sure to head back there the next night (Saturday) too for the Bear Mountain CD Release show!  Monday the 10th Jasper Sloan Yip and The Ruffled Feathers are at the Agro Cafe as part of the Fringe Festival – and it’s FREE!
