#InTheVillage on False Creek Part 46: Getting to Telus WE Day

The Village on False Creek Welcome to In The Village on False Creek, a unique project inspired by Live@YVR and 365 Days of Dining. I've moved my family into this community with my mission being to showcase the myriad of things that make it awesome by bringing you a weekly scoop!

Last month Telus invited myself and a bunch of other bloggers across the country to experience WE Day, an annual gathering that brings out tens of thousands of youth to celebrate positive social change and to be inspired. They equipped us each with a Samsung Galaxy SIII and the instruction to take video of ourselves as well as what we experienced throughout the day. 20,000 youth packed in to Rogers Arena and were inspired by talks by some of their peers and a great deal of influential leaders and changemakers including Desmond Tutu, Holly Branson, Spencer West and Magic Johnson!

In the quick wrapup video below you'll see some of the speakers and be introduced to all of the bloggers who participated and the some of the video they (WE!) collected. You'll also see me getting ready to head out from the Village on False Creek for my first ever WE Day, then a quick flash of the beginning of what was a walking commute that day (it's at about the 1:00 mark). I'm going to make a post in the future about how great my commute to our new office is (brace yourself, I can practically hear your excitement from this side of the screen, haha!), but before I do I wanted to present you with the inspiration that took place a short walk from my house.

It's hard to put into words the positive effects that moving from Mt Pleasant into the Village has had on my life, but there are many small examples like how I actually love my commute. To work is one thing, and also just being able to walk or take the train to many downtown events like WE Day (in fact it would take longer to drive, and cost more to park etc) has added a new layer of freedom for me. I joked earlier in this post about the excitement of my commute to our new office but I feel really fortunate to live in such a centrally located neighnourhood.
