Chainsaw man's identity revealed!

So here's something crazy: at 8:36 this morning I TWEETED out a link to a photo I shot at the Pacific Salmon Foundation 's annual gala. It was of a man in a suit casually walking out of the Convention Centre West with a chainsaw over his shoulder.

So here's something crazy: at 8:36 this morning I TWEETED out a link to a photo I shot at the Pacific Salmon Foundation's annual gala. It was of a man in a suit casually walking out of the Convention Centre West with a chainsaw over his shoulder. He had just won it in the silent auction and instead of getting them to send it to him, he took it right off of the table and hauled it back to his car (or maybe a cab? I'm not certain on this point). But that's not the crazy thing. I mean it is pretty crazy and awesome but the thing that happened next is an almost impossibly crazy coincidence.

About a half an hour after I tweeted the link to the photo (which only showed Chainsaw Man from the back) I received a press release via email, with the subject being that Eastlake Campus had just donated $5,000 to the Pacific Salmon Foundation. "Sweet!", I exclaimed as I opened up the email which had a tiny accompanying photo of the president of Adera Development and some other dudes holding up the cheque made out to the Foundation that I love so dearly.

"That guy looks familiar" I thought to myself, then turned to my phone where my other photos from the gala were stored. I got to one that I shot of Chainsaw Man before he left, standing with one of my fellow members of the gala's organizing committee, Jennifer West. And guess what? The president of Adera, Kevin Mahon, is chainsaw man!!!

Below is the press release about Adera and Sun Life's donation. Make no mistake, I am so happy they're giving money for conservation like this, but I am absolutely thrilled that we found the identity of Chainsaw Man!

New Eastlake Campus commemorates groundbreaking with $5,000 donation to Pacific Salmon Foundation

Burnaby, May 6, 2014 — Eastlake Campus, an unprecedented campus-style office/warehouse flex project, broke ground today at Burnaby’s Lake City business district. Burnaby Mayor Derek Corrigan put the spade in the ground at Eastlake Campus, candidate for LEED certified project which will offer state-of-the-art concrete construction and architectural features in a landscaped, campus style location. Offering 300,000 sq ft of warehouse flex space, Eastlake Campus will also feature landscaped picnic areas, a fully lit walking trail and green spaces, and rooftop patios.

Eastlake Campus is located adjacent to Silver Creek, a protected salmon spawning stream and to preserve the adjacent riparian area, Adera Development and Sun Life Financial together donated $5,000.00 to the Pacific Salmon Foundation. Eastlake Campus is a joint venture with Sun Life Financial and Adera Development Corporation.
