Here are the boundaries for the campfire ban being put into effect tomorrow

If you're planning on going camping this weekend you should be aware that there's a campfire ban going into effect tomorrow (Saturday, June 27, 2015) on the South Coast. As I WROTE earlier this week we expected to see a ban go into effect early this year but 6 days after the first day of summer is unprecedented. While this will ensure there are less wildfires in our province this season all of your marshmallow lovers out there might want to invest in small camp stoves (which you're allowed to use during a ban); usually when a ban goes into place it's not lifted until the fall.

If you go against the ban you'll be subject to a "Ticket for $345, required to pay an administrative penalty of $10,000 or, if convicted in court, fined up to $100,000 and/or sentenced to one year in jail. If the contravention causes or contributes to a wildfire, the person responsible may be ordered to pay all firefighting and associated costs."

So be smart and don't have a fire, k?

Click the map below to see the boundaries of the ban. If you're feeling adventurous and you just can't do without a fire you might want to find a spot to camp past Pemberton, Lytton or Princeton, beyond the boundary.
