Why we support the CBC Open House & Food Bank Day

Since 2009 we've been bringing you word of CBC Vancouver's Open House & Food Bank Day .

Since 2009 we've been bringing you word of CBC Vancouver's Open House & Food Bank Day. This annual tradition is a way for them to let people see how and where the local CBC sausage is made and to help those with less put sausage on the table, as it were. Last year the community brought in $630,314 and the total over the past few years is over $3,000,000. In a perfect world they wouldn't have to do this, and if you've been listening to 88.1FM over the past few weeks you'll have caught some nuanced conversations about how we got here, and why food banks are still important - perhaps more important than ever.

As the affordability crisis worsens in Vancouver and worms its way into the rest of BC it's on all of us to help. And while encouraging our readers to donate money is one thing we like to put our money where our mouth is; we've purchased this AMAZING "ugly" CBC Vancouver holiday sweater for $250 in support. You can get one for yourself at Open House Day for $250, all of which goes to BC food banks. You can also got your hands (er, feet) on a pair of socks with a similar design, for $40.

Be still my beating heart, the CBC ugly sweater has SALMON on it!Be still my beating heart, the CBC ugly sweater has SALMON on it!

ALSO, we're giving away a pair of the socks! All you've got to do is like THIS FACEBOOK POST or retweet THIS TWEET to be entered.
