There's a bacon eating contest happening in Vancouver

Do you love bacon? No, seriously, do you LOVE bacon?

Do you love bacon? No, seriously, do you LOVE bacon? If the answer is yes, and if you are prepared to go gut-to-gut with your fellow baconthusiasts to devour heaping plates of the pork product, mark your calendars for October 15, which is when The Capital is having a Bacon Eating Contest.

An event like this needs very little explaining, though it must be noted there's a $10 entry fee--the proceeds are going to BC Children's Hospital, so if it helps to know you'll be pigging out for a cause, so be it.

The Capital's rules are pretty basic: The event will take place in heats, and each round will be (a merciful) 40 seconds long. Contestants will be chowing down from plates of bacon that have been pre-measured to be of equal weight. Each heat's winner will face off and one "Ultimate Bacon Champion" will emerge.

And, no, the event is not sponsored by Pepto-Bismol, but you'll probably want to pack some if you're partaking.

The Capital's Bacon Eating Contest takes place on Sunday, October 15 at 6 pm at 1178 Davie Street. $10 entry fee can be paid to any bartender or manager on duty any day/time prior to the contest.
