How many food trends can you put into one dish? Well, Bao Down Gastropub's brunch menu has an item on it that is pretty peak Vancouver, bringing together two of the city's buzziest eats: Poké and avocado toast.
It's called the Pokecado, and it's made with avocado, greens, furikake, cucumber, and albacore tuna poke served on top of a thick slice of farmers' bread with a poached egg.
This outpost in the Bao Down mini-empire has been all about tropical pan-Asian vibes since their launch, and their "Island Brunch" is no exception. Here's where you'll find all sorts of mashups and flavours of the Philippines and Hawaii via dishes like Spam Musubi, or Ube Waffles with Fried Chicken.
They've event got Donut French Toast, because...why not?
Considering how we're a notoriously a population so enamoured with avocado toast we can't break into the real estate market, it's a blessing that this particular rendition of the nouveau brunch (or breakfast or lunch) staple comes in at a respectable $8.
