For the past few years, Richmond has had competing summertime night markets in operation, but for 2018, we now know just one of them will be coming back. The Illumination Summer Night Market has opted not to run their event anymore.
Launched as the International Summer Night Market, then rebranded twice to the Panda Night Market, and last year's light-infused Illumination Summer Night Market, this second Richmond night market had been operating at 12631 River Road, north of Vulcan Way.

A phone call to the operation's office confirmed that the Night Market would not be back in 2018, citing a decision to not secure the space or run the event further.
The Richmond Night Market, however, is poised to open May 11, 2018 and run until October 8 on River Road north of Bridgeport. Considered one of North America's biggest night markets, the popular food, shopping, and entertainment event continues to be a big draw for prospective vendors and attendees alike.
