Officials are investigating after a body was pulled from the waters off Wreck Beach yesterday.
On June 11, University RCMP responded to a report of a body found near Wreck Beach at Pacific Spirit Regional Park.
In an emailed statement, RCMP say the Canadian Coast Guard was called out just before 3 p.m. after a passing boat operator saw what he believed to be a body in the water. The Vancouver Police marine unit also helped to recover the body.
The body was brought to Vanier Park Beach in Vancouver. RCMP say a sailboat and a rowboat believed to be associated with the incident was towed to a nearby marina for examination.
The RCMPs Major Crime Unit is working with University RCMP on this investigation. The RCMP and the BC Coroners Service are working to confirm the identity of the person that was found dead.
Pacific Spirit Regional Park is located on the University Endowment Lands near UBC's main campus.
