A body was found washed ashore Friday on the New Westminster waterfront.
The body was found near a housing development east of the River Market at around 12:30 p.m.
New West police officers were seen in a boat on the Fraser River, and firefighters and paramedics also attended.
A male was found deceased and the crew on police boat were able to retrieve the body.
The New Westminster Police Department issued a statement saying the coroner has been asked to investigate, but at this time, the death is not believed to be suspicious.
The body was identified as a missing Burnaby man, but no name has been released.
