A longtime Steveston Japanese restaurant has officially and quietly shuttered its doors.

Yokohama Teppanyaki and Sushi Bar, #140 - 12251 No. 1 Rd., has operated in the heart of Steveston Village for more than 20 years.

The restaurant was known for its teppanyaki-style meals as well as traditional Japanese and sushi dishes.

Richmond residents and community members visited the local restaurant in December and noticed the lights were out and the doors were locked for an extended period of time. There was no notice indicating whether they were on holiday or officially closed.

The Richmond News visited the teppanyaki restaurant recently and noticed a for lease sign outside.

The 2,722 square feet of restaurant space is being listed for $8,846.50 plus tax per month with access available starting June 1, according to the listing on Dorset Realty Group.
