Grab your swim trunks and sunscreen, and get ready to take a ride that only happens once a year. Fun City Sliders will set up on the streets of North Vancouver, turning Lonsdale Avenue into a giant slip-and-slide for some summertime fun.
Fun City Sliders is part of the annual Fun City Festival hosted by the City of North Vancouver. Taking place on July 13 and 14, 2019, the weekend not only features the 1,000-foot-long water slide zooming you down Lonsdale, but also an array of community events taking place in and around Victoria Park.
The slide, of course, is the main attraction, taking sliders ages 5 and up down Lonsdale from Keith Road to 5th Street. The two-lane slide is six meters wide with a thick layer of foam underneath and a catch pool at the tail end. Fun City Sliders cautions, though, that it is a street slide, after all, so there are fast sections and slow sections, and technique counts. They've got a comprehensive FAQ page if you need to know more.
This year North Vancouver is working with Fun City Sliders (in the past it was another company called Slide the City), in case the name is throwing you off.
While mid-July may seem eons away right now, tickets for Fun City Sliders start up on April 1. The City of North Vancouver has all the pricing details for the half-day and all-day slide passes.
