You know what they say: When one pub door closes, another opens. Okay, maybe that's not exactly how the saying goes, but in the case of Donnelly Group's newest Vancouver venture, they're indeed turning one now-defunct pub into a brand new one, as they launch The Ballyhoo Public House in the space previously occupied by The Winking Judge.
Situated at 888 Burrard Street (at Smithe), renovations are underway at the site in preparation for an early June open.
The Ballyhoo Public House will "blend a host of updates and upgrades," according to media materials, in a space that has been many things over the last 80 years, including a gas station, auto dealership, all-night diner, and most recently, a favourite Vancouver watering hole.
Drawing inspiration from 1970s New York City bars, The Ballyhoo Public House will feature a menu of pub staples as well as local craft beers, cocktails, and weekend brunch (with fresh-pressed juice).
Donnelly Group currently operates a slate of public house concepts in Vancouver and Toronto.
