Surrey RCMP are thanking the public for their concern, but a woman in distress yesterday was reacting to nothing more nefarious than an arachnid in the car.
Mounties responded to a call Saturday (March 6) around 4:30 p.m. in Newton near 141 Street and 61 Avenue after witnesses spotted a woman in distress in an SUV.
Police were able to track down the vehicle, a white RAV4, and had a discussion with the couple.
It turned out the reason she was in distress was because a spider had joined them in the vehicle.
"The spider made a surprise appearance in the car causing a bit of a scramble and led to the woman to cry out for help," state Surrey RCMP in a release. "The woman then opened her door while the vehicle was in motion in an attempt to shoo the spider out."
They go on to thank the members of the public and media who were concerned for the woman's well-being.
