A little Hip-Hop history for you kiddies out there and a throw back for the heads. Elements Hip Hop Journal was a magazine printed bi-monthly (I think every issue was late) by the Student Radio Society of UBC with somewhat of a tie to CiTR radio. It focused on all the elements of Hip Hop culture: MC's, Dj's, Breaking and Graffiti all on a local, national, and international levels. It featured interviews, music reviews, and lifestyle issues pertaining to the Hip Hop community. This shit was real and for the heads. No filler. The Covers were receptively handcrafted by Virus and Dedos of the AA Crew. J Swing and Flipout took on the responsibilities as Editors/Layout/Production. AllCity Action Team Art Directed it. Rob Rizk took care of Advertising. It was Published by Linda Scholten. Some of the Contributers over its existence were: Checkmate, Jeeps, Kemo the Labrat, Kilo Cee, Mr. Bill and the Incredible Ease, Freestyle Crazee, Ebony, Day, Omeka Almighty and the list goes on. I don't have every issue and I'm not exactly sure how many were produced. J Swing probably has them all. The cover were sick! the content kept you up to date on real Hip Hop. The type of magazine that I would read every single word cover to cover. Oh yeah and it was FREE!. Here are some scans of a few issue covers for your enjoyment...
