Calling all cosplay aficionados!
FAN EXPO Vancouver returns to the city for its 8th annual pop culture convention at the Vancouver Convention Centre.
The expo takes place from March 1 until March 3, and offers three days of pop culture infused activities, shopping, and programming for the whole family.
What's more, this year's eclectic extravaganza features the one and only George Takei from the original Star Trek series.
Best known for his role as “Hikaru Sulu”, the sci-fi icon has also appeared on Broadway. On stage, his latest role was in the production Allegiance, which is a musical based on his life experiences in Japanese American internment camps during WWII. In addition, Takei actively fights for LGBT rights and is a noted human rights activist.
Fans will have the opportunity to meet the legendary actor as well as take photos, get an autograph, and hear him sing live on stage.
The fun-filled spectacle will cover over 250,000 square feet of fantasy fun, and attracts a great deal of fans. In fact, the last FAN EXPO, which took place in October, brought out a whopping 25,000 fans.
“We’re thrilled to have this show now take place in the spring, and excited to be able to welcome fans to come together again soon,” said Kandrix Foong, Managing Director of FAN EXPO HQ in Western Canada.
“George Takei is not only an iconic actor, but an extraordinary advocate for causes he believes in. I never miss a chance to catch his panels. You don’t need to be a Star Trek aficionado to appreciate his legacy or enjoy his incredible storytelling ability – we’re thrilled he’ll be joining us in March.”
From sci-fi and fantasy to anime and horror, the expo celebrates all things pop culture in Vancouver and beyond.
