Miracles happen! Or, in this case: public votes happen!
TheEvo Summer Cinema series has been screening flicks for free every Tuesday night in Stanley Park this July, and at the same time, film fans have been getting their votes in online to choose which movie will be the last one of the year.
Voting closed July 24 and the results are in. The last movie will be: The Princess Diaries.
The Princess Diaries (2001) is a beloved coming-of-age drama starring Anne Hathaway as a San Francisco teen whose life is turned upside down when she learns she is royalty in a far-off country. (Bonus: Her grandma, the queen, is played by cinema royalty Julie Andrews.)
General admission for first-come, first-served lawn seating is free, however, there are some paid options to enhance your Summer Cinema experience. You can opt to purchase advance VIP tickets (limited quantities) via the event website for $20 per person. The movies screen in the area by the Second Beach pool.
While Queen Clarisse assures us her royal status means she's never late, the fact is, us mere civilians have to watch the clock. Movies screen at sundown, so be sure to get yourself to the screening area in time to get a good spot, spread out your blanket, and be ready for the show.
Plus, while the opening credits roll just after sunset, everyone is urged to come early to get a good spot and enjoy pre-show fun and food from local trucks, fresh popcorn, and even a non-alcoholic bar.
The Princess Diaries wraps up another exciting summer of free outdoor movies in Stanley Park on Tuesday, August 27, but before then, there are still four weeks - and four fun films - to catch. Get out there and soak up some summer fun!
