Special Pride floral displays are being set up in Vancouver from July 26 to Aug. 4, 2024.

This week, six special floral displays will be set up in downtown and the West End to celebrate Vancouver's vibrant LGBTQ+ community.

The displays are organized by Fleurs de Villes; it's the third time the floral displays have been set up for Pride. Floral installations will be set up at places like Jim Deva Plaza on Davie Street, the Bentall Centre, and Park Place.

People will be able to spot rainbow arches, disco balls, and mannequins dressed in floral garb.

"The rainbow-hued pop-up floral installations are the perfect addition to our colourful Davie Village community and for our inaugural Davie Village Pop-Up Pride event on August 3,” says Teri Smith, executive director of the West End BIA, in a press release.

Fleurs de Villes notes the importance of the West End and downtown Vancouver in Canada's LGBTQ+ history and community. Vancouver was home to early activists and groups, including Canada's first gay choir, first Pride parade and the first gay rights group.

The displays will be up until August 6.
