Vancouver residents looking to get in one last freebie skate at the city's only outdoor rink have until tomorrow, Feb. 28, to do so.

Friday is the last day for Robson Square's annual free skating campaign, which began Nov. 29, 2024.

The venue at the corner of Robson and Howe streets, which draws more than 100,000 visitors each year, will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Skaters must bring their own blades, but rentals are available for $5 and include a helmet, which are mandatory for children 12 years and younger.

Robson Square first opened in 1982, but closed in 1991. It was renovated for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

Since December 2010, the province has opened the rink every winter for ice skating and will do so for "the foreseeable future."

The facility is rented out for the rest of the year for events and activities.
