A Christmas tradition full of beautiful lights, decorated boats and songs of the season will be sure to warm the hearts of young and old this weekend.
The carol ships will sail into Ladner Harbour on Friday, Dec. 6 and Saturday, Dec. 7 at 7:15 p.m. both nights.
The decorated boat parade and caroling takes place at the government dock at the foot of Elliott Street.
Marie Webber, who coordinates the caroling, said Ladner Gospel Assembly carolers have been singing at the event for more than 40 years.
The decorated boats will be greeted by the choir which will be singing on shore from the show stage, said Webber.
Joining the carolers this year will be Alistair Milne of The Suspenders and his two daughters singing some special Christmas music. Ruth Hanna will perform a country gospel solo and Ray Webber will serve as MC and share his thoughts of the Christmas season. There will also be candy canes, free calendars and hot chocolate for all.
“I love to have the opportunity to share the birth of Jesus Christ with everyone,” said Marie Webber. “I love to see the decorated boats, to sing the Christmas carols. It starts the Christmas season for me.
“There is such a joyful spirit down at the dock. Everyone is so happy and giving. It is just a wonderful time. It really is a tradition that is a part of this community and a part of Christmas traditions for so many Ladner families.”
