Metro Vancouver’s largest free outdoor holiday light display is set to inspire awe and ignite festive cheer when it opens to visitors later this month.
The City of Coquitlam has revealed the dazzling Lights at Lafarge display will be switched on at a free kick-off event for the public to enjoy Nov. 30. The lights will continue to illuminate the park until late January, giving ample opportunity for all to soak in the magic of the festive spectacle.
The popular attraction boasts tens of thousands of lights installed in various configurations, including a beautifully lit 1.2 km walkway around Lafarge Lake. The enchanted walk offers a number of creative elements, such as sparkling maple leafs, a pair of glowing swans, twinkling flowers, and much more.
Visitors can look forward to an alluring fire show, live entertainment, food trucks, roving entertainers, buskers, family crafts and more at this year's kick-off event. A full schedule is available online.
The celebration will take place entirely outdoors, so visitors should dress in warm clothing and waterproof, durable footwear as they take in all the festivities, cautions Coquitlam officials.
While there is some on-site parking at Town Centre Park, the Lights at Lafarge are popular and can get busy. Event-goers are encouraged to walk, carpool or take transit. Use Translink's TripPlanner or ride the SkyTrain to the Lafarge Lake-Douglas Station for easy access to Town Centre Park.
