There's already a chock-full of free festivals and events happening around the city in August. Here's one more!
"Meet Me in Gastown" will fill the streets of the quaint neighbourhood with music, games and lights for an evening.
The free community celebration on August 25 will take over Carrall St Laneway and Maple Tree Square from 5-9:30 p.m. with giant jenga, building blocks, beanbag toss, and local music, arts and culture.
There will also be musical performances at several locations throughout Gastown.
Rocky Riobo Duo will perform vintage jazz outside of OK Boot at 205 Carral St, Lenny and Pete will play a mix or rock, blues and country outside of the Lamplighter at Abbott and Water streets, and Leela will strum her guitar be outside of Steamworks at Cordova and Water streets.
The night will end with an immersive light show, after a performance by the Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra.
Here's the full schedule:
5 p.m. - Music performances, outdoor games and seating at Carrall St Laneway and 1 Alexander St to nibble on takeaway from participating Gastown restaurants such as Monarca and Local Public Eatery.
7-9:30 p.m. - Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra performance at 1 Alexander St.
8:45 p.m. - Immersive light show begins at 1 Alexander St.
