The Mount Pleasant BIA society will host a new street festival in August 2025 to celebrate its "vibrant neighbourhood."

A new street festival in Vancouver this summer is set to celebrate one of the city's more eclectic communities.

And organizers hope local residents that attend will enjoy a "pleasant" afternoon and evening with those who make the neighbourhood "vibrant."

The Pleasant Day Festival will make its debut on Aug. 9, 2025, hosted by the Mount Pleasant Business Improvement Area (MPBIA).

According to the organization, the free one-day event aims to recognize the businesses, entrepreneurs and artists that bring soul, as well as an infectious spirit, to the backbone of the community.

"The MPBIA is dedicated to fostering a thriving, inclusive, and creative community by supporting local businesses, enhancing public spaces, and hosting events that bring people together," Mount Pleasant BIA explained of its new festival in an official announcement shared on Wednesday, Feb. 19.

Described as a family-friendly cultural affair, the MPBIA added there will be something for everyone including artisan vendors, food trucks and beer gardens, as well as games, interactive activities and a kids-only zone.

News of the eight-hour event appears to have captured the excitement of Vancouver residents on social media.

"Marked my calendar!!! I am so psyched," said one post on Instagram.

"Man, this looks like a good time. Count me in," said another.

Pleasant Day will take over the one-kilometre stretch of Main Street between 16th and King Edward avenues, but MPBIA noted its goal is to expand the festival in future years "to the entire district."

There will also be multiple performance stages along that span for live music and extended patios to mingle and bask in the summer sun.

Pleasant Day Festival is scheduled for Aug. 9 from noon to 8 p.m.
