Metro Vancouver's first Australian festival is making a debut this summer.
The Australian Cultural Festival on Aug. 26 will showcase Aussie food, music, art, alongside some cultural education. There will also be a small artisan market for Australian wares, art, and other goods.
All kelpie or bluey dogs will be given free treats at the event too. In Australia, a working cattle dog is referred to as a kelpie and an Australian sheepdog is called a bluey.
"Vancouver is very multicultural, with a dense population of Australians. We have so many beautiful and educational cultural festivals representing everyone, but not Australia," says the event organizer.
"As an Australian and a Canadian, my hope with this festival is to connect Aussies and Canadians alike to learn about, appreciate, and enjoy Australian culture."
The event is free to attend but those wanting to come down should reserve a spot online.
