The top 5 artists in the Peak Performance Project for 2010 were ANNOUNCED recently and the top three will be playing a show together on November 18th, 2010, when the final announcement will be made as to who wins the $100,500!

Leading up to the showcase at the Commodore we're bringing you interviews with each of the top 5 about the project and Vancouver, and today Kyprios took some time to answer some questions for us!

What's your favourite thing about Vancouver?

People. I've grown up in Vancouver and having my friends and family here is by far the best attribute for me. The rain of the city makes me truly appreciate when the suns out, good little life lesson through miserable weather... Vancouver is unruly when the sun is out, best city in Canada, so much to do.

What's your favourite venue in the city?

Commodore is my favorite venue to play with Fortune and The Vogue both extremely on point. Richards on Richards is dearly missed as I witnessed some of the most influential shows of my life there (Pharcyde, The Roots, Blackalicious, Saul Williams) and also played some of my most memorable there as well.

Favourite restaurant in the city?

I like Osaka and Saki Maki (Japanese), Quatro (Italian), Les Faux Bourgeois (French), Kingston's (Jamaican), Palki (Indian), and when I'm on the fly it's Nando's, JapaDog or Fritz Fries (best poutine in the world)...

Your favourite musician in the PEAK Performance Project?

Initially my favorite artist was Kuba Oms. Then I started listening to the Parlour Steps and Bodhi Jones and they were my number 1. After that, it was all Adaline for me until I couldnt get Greg Szebel's CD out of my stereo. Then I was all over Debra Jean and Jess Hill. All of a sudden Ben Sigston came along to take top honours until Behind Sapphire was introduced to me. I watched Yes Nice play at Bootcamp and was humbled by their musicianship so they became the kings of the ring. I saw the 41st And Home viral video which made them the coolest half naked swimming group ever until I saw Matt from Yuca get a Peak tattoo on his chest... I was torn again. Dan from Acres Of Lions had an amazing beard, which entranced me to become a huge fan of the band and made them the juggernaut of the competition. Steph MacPherson sang a duet of "Beauty And The Beast" with me and how can't you love an artist with a voice like that? Christina Maria turned me into a Jr. Christina Maria with this weird wand she had, super coolest chick ever. The "Rude Boy Roooooooodie," Chris Arruda sat down at a piano and made that thing sing in a multitude of ways I had never heard before, he became my number one gun. Vince Vacarro tamed a wild wolf and taught it how to play drums for him, the Nature Boy was born and so was my love of the Italian Stallion. Aidan Knight sang "Jasper" and I felt like he had written the best song about a place in Canada ever. Said The Whale showered me in confetti and I felt like I was at the high school dance in "Footloose." Absolute best.

I guess I would have to say a 19 way tie for my favorite artist...

Your favourite musician NOT in the PEAK Performance Project?

John Lennon (f**k Paul) hahaha.

Best memory from the PEAK Performance Project?

Singing with everyone on the dock at BootCamp. So tired, so much fun, so much talent under one gorgeous constellation filled sky. Just breathtaking.
